Xylazine is a veterinary sedative/tranquilizer used to sedate animals. However it has also become a popular cut in fentadope and dirty blues.
Why is it being cut into the dope?
Dealers are using xylazine as a cheap way to cut their fentadope to make the dope feel stronger and last longer. Many users unknowingly use xylazine, most don’t want xylazine in their dope or don’t even know their dope is cut with it.
The dangers:
Xylazine presents many dangers to its users.
Firstly, xylazine is a depressant, mixing it with fentanyl creates a synergy, greatly increasing the risk of overdose by slowing down the breathing and heart rate.
Secondly, because xylazine is not an opiate the opiate reversal drug Narcan is not effective on it. This means that if you overdose on fentadope cut with tranq Narcan may not work to reverse the overdose.
Thirdly, xyxlazine is extremely damaging to the body. It causes necrosis, and open skin ulcers on its users. This can result in severe infections and amputation. This not only affects injection users, but even snorting and smoking fentadope cut with xylazine has been reported to cause skin ulcers and tissue damage.

Fourthly, as a tranquilizer xylazine is knocking out its users. This can leave you unconscious and at risk of being robbed, harmed or taken advantage of.
Lastly, fentanyl withdrawals are bad enough on their own, when you add xylazine to the mix it just makes things worse. This makes withdrawals from fentadope cut with xylazine more severe, because you are now withdrawing from both the fentanyl and the xylazine. It also makes detox treatment harder because in addition to treating the fentanyl withdrawal the xylazine withdrawal also needs to be treated.
Furthermore it makes it harder for addicts to get and stay on methadone treatment, because while the methadone treats the opiate withdrawal the addict can still be uncomfortable from the xylazine withdrawals leading them to continue to use.
These are just some of the dangers of xylazine.
What to do about it?
Because of the many risks Xylazine poses to drug users it should be avoided at all costs.
If you are currently an active user try testing your drugs to avoid using drugs with xylazine.

If you are already addicted to fentadope cut with xylazine, don’t be discouraged. Many people have successfully detoxed off of it. There are already several medications that are being used to treat the xylazine withdrawal symptoms. Clonodine is one of these medications.
